iAnywhere Launches AvantGo for BlackBerry / Mobile Sales for BlackBerry Early Adopter Program
iAnywhere Solutions, Inc., a subsidiary of Sybase, Inc. (NYSE: SY), today announced the upcoming release of AvantGo® for the BlackBerry® platform from Research In Motion (RIM) (Nasdaq: RIMM; TSX: RIM). AvantGo for BlackBerry will give millions of Blackberry users the latest business, sports and entertainment news from the Web’s best brands all optimized for their Blackberry devices. The company is previewing the popular mobile Internet service’s support for BlackBerry to attendees of the Wireless Enterprise Symposium show this week, where Sybase is a gold sponsor (booth #301). AvantGo for BlackBerry will be available for general release within the next 30 days.

“We’re pleased to be able to offer AvantGo to millions of BlackBerry users,” said Neil Versen, senior director of AvantGo at iAnywhere. “Once used primarily for email, BlackBerry devices are increasingly being used by the business user for a wider range of applications, including access to Internet news and information. With over seven million unique subscribers, AvantGo has been a leader in delivering mobile content to smartphones and PDAs since 1999. The free service will wirelessly connect BlackBerry users to thousands of specially formatted brand-name web sites ("channels") including AccuWeather, Bloomberg, CNET, Forbes, Hollywood.com, The Golf Channel, Reuters, RollingStone.com, The Sporting News, Wired News and more. Users can even create personal channels to view family sites, local news, niche sites, church and club sites, workout schedules, and more so they are always in touch, even when on the go.

Availability

The initial release of AvantGo for the BlackBerry provides wireless access to the service and will be available within the next 30 days. A pre-release version is currently available for users at http://www.avantgo.com/rim A free AvantGo account is required.
