| PyX Technologies, Inc. Introduces the World's First iSCSI Thin Client Initiator for the Storage Market |
||
| PyX Technologies, Inc., a leading OEM supplier of iSCSI protocol solutions, today announced the availability of the world's first iSCSI thin client initiator and target storage management software featuring Error Recovery Level Two (ERL2), the highest possible level of block level data transmission reliability over IP networks.
PyX Technologies' thin client iSCSI initiator and target software are the world's first iSCSI products specifically designed for the wireless and personal computing and entertainment markets. They allow seamless access by end users to any data stored on any iSCSI enabled target (server) located anywhere in the world over any WAN, LAN or wireless transport fabric, with the unprecedented reliability of iSCSI Error Recovery Level Two (ERL 2). At approximately 350KB, PyX Technologies' thin client iSCSI initiator software is small enough to operate on most wireless handheld devices including PDA's, pocket PCs, UPC scanners, security cameras, home gaming consoles, entertainment devices and many wireless personal communicators. "This really demonstrates the power of iSCSI in the client applications market where a hand held device with a thin iSCSI layer can securely access terabytes of storage physically located anywhere in the world via an IP network," said Andre Hedrick, President and CTO of PyX Technologies. "Further," Hedrick continues, "because PyX is the only vendor implementing Error Recovery Level Two (ERL 2) in our products, the user has an unprecedented degree of confidence that his data will be available on demand and that his requests will be processed error-free." "Imagine being able to use your home gaming console as your primary entertainment device for games, commercial and home movies, music, personal data and broadcast programming capture," comments Chris Short, Vice President of Sales for PyX. "Gamers can now use their skins which were previously only available to them in their home from almost any PyX enabled device from anywhere on the planet with an Ethernet connection." Short continues, "When you go visit your relatives during the holidays, you can use your handheld device or laptop PC to show those home movies of your daughter's graduation to her grandmother without having to lug VCR tapes around. "Because the client initiator is so small and because the overhead associated with the PyX iSCSI stack is minimal," says Short, "many modern wireless devices will be able to take advantage of this technology for everything from UPC inventory control scans to remote video monitoring to using laptops containing no physical disks for in-field security and data protection. We are very excited about the new markets this technology opens and are looking forward to working with developers and manufacturers who will be able to take advantage of our solutions to enable their products." PyX Technologies, Inc., headquartered in Concord, California, licenses iSCSI storage management solutions featuring Error Recovery Level Two (ERL 2) to OEMs, software developers and solution providers. |
