Puget Sound Handheld Users Group Had Their First "How fast can you input?" Contest Last Night
The primary meeting topic for the www.PSHUG.org meeting was to show how to set up a WiFi network out of the box and get your PocketPC on the network wirelessly. They showed how to set up a wireless router/firewall and then configured its most common features. The next task was to install a CF WiFi card on a PocketPC from scratch. They used a laptop and USB Sync cable to perform the install. After a soft reset (required for driver to activate) the iPAQ was on the network and looking great. The WiFi Event was sponsored by Compex www.CPX.com and featured the SKW811 Out-of-the-box 11Mbps Wireless Network Starter Kit and the WCF11 11Mbps Compact Flash Wireless LAN Card.

Now onto the "How fast can you input?" contest. The rules were simple, you could only use soft input such as the software keyboard, Block Recognizer, FITALITY, etc. Basically no external keyboards or thumboards and the phrase had to be complete with no errors. Once everyone was ready to begin they displayed the phrase: “The quick brown fox jumps over a lazy dog” and the contestants started. A short 25 seconds later Peter D of Seattle was finished with no errors. His input method of choice was the standard software keyboard using the large letters feature; the PDA used was the iPAQ 5450. The Contest was sponsored by www.Proporta.com and Peter gets to select and Aluminum PDA case of his choice. There were 3 runners up from the group they are as follows: L Wayne T, Ron N, and David D. All runners up will receive 50% off a PDA case of their chouse from Proporta.

All in all is was a great meeting, about 50 people were in attendance.
