| OurPictures Unveils Single Click Photo Sharing for Mobile Phones, PCs and TVs at DEMOmobile 2004 |
||
| OurPictures, the service that makes digital photography simple enough for everyone, today unveiled at the DEMOmobile 2004 conference OurPictures Mobile(TM), an all-new service that enables consumers to share photos with a single click between cell phones, computers, and TVs. The company also demonstrated OurPictures TV(TM), a groundbreaking solution that brings photo-interaction home to the TV.
Available in October 2004 throughout North America and the U.K. for $1.99 per month, OurPictures Mobile(TM) is the first industry-wide solution enabling consumers to automatically transfer photos and video clips from a camera phone to a PC with just one click. Once a picture is snapped with a camera phone, only a single click is needed and the image is instantly delivered to friends and family, as well as the sender's PC desktop where they can organize them with the rest of their digital photos. "Camera phones are fundamentally changing the world of digital photography because their portability makes them the perfect anytime, anywhere networked camera," said OurPictures CEO John Paul. "And, with 1 megapixel phones now available in the U.S. and 2 and 3 megapixel phones prevalent in Asia, good quality camera phone pictures are now available." Camera phones are becoming ubiquitous, with some models available to U.S. consumers for as little as $35 with mobile plans. Within two years, photos from mobile handset cameras will become the mainstream source of new photos of vacations, friends and family. According to InfoTrends, worldwide camera phones sales will hit 150 million in 2004 resulting in an additional 29 billion digital images captured. By 2008 sales growth is expected to experience a compound annual growth rate of 55% and will reach 656 million units. OurPictures also debuted on stage today its state-of-the-art TV solution, OurPictures TV(TM), on the Roku HD1000 digital media player. Integrating OurPictures and Roku's set top box enables consumers to send digital photos to those who would prefer to experience digital photos on their TV rather than on a computer. With OurPictures' recent integration with Ritz and Wolf Camera Centers, prints can be ordered directly from the TV and be ready for pick-up within 3 hours. "With one click, consumers can begin instantly sharing pictures from their mobile phones or digital cameras with friends and family on their PCs or TVs," said John Paul. "My mom can't wait to begin seeing her grandchildren on TV." |
