GSI Commerce, Inc. (NASDAQ:GSIC) today announced the company has received a multi-year contract extension from palmOne, Inc., a leading global provider of handheld computer and communication devices, to continue to provide a comprehensive e-commerce solution to operate palmOne's online stores in the United States http://store.palmone.com/ and Canada http://canadastore.palmone.com/
In addition, the new agreement calls for GSI Commerce to replace and operate palmOne's Treo(TM) online store http://web.palmone.com/ , currently operated in-house by palmOne. The new site will be similar to the solution GSI Commerce operates on behalf of palmOne for the U.S. and Canadian online stores, but will include phone activation services and credit authorization interfaces with telecommunication carriers, including AT&T, Sprint, Cingular, T-Mobile and Verizon. "Our model supports an aggressive and continuing reinvestment in our e- commerce platform, which in turn allows us to grow our capabilities to meet the needs of our partners," said Michael G. Rubin, chairman and CEO of GSI Commerce. "Our extended and expanded relationship with palmOne enhances our capability to sell and service wireless communication products through our e- commerce platform." About GSI Commerce GSI Commerce provides an e-commerce solution enabling retailers, branded manufacturers, entertainment companies and professional sports organizations to operate e-commerce businesses. The company's e-commerce solution includes Web site development and design, e-commerce technology, managed hosting, order fulfillment, customer service, merchandising and order management, online merchandising, customer relationship management, content development and online marketing. The company operates either all or a portion of the e- commerce businesses for approximately 45 partners. |
