Emap Lifestyle Magazines Choose Cascata To Produce Mobile Phone Content
Following its success producing mobile and interactive content for brands such as Love Hearts, Basil Brush, and Mr Bean, innovations and publishing company Cascata Limited has signed a non-exclusive two-year deal with EMAP’s 34 top-selling active (outdoor) and automotive titles to produce and deliver its branded mobile phone content.

The deal, worth in excess of £0.5m, will see Cascata produce and deliver a variety of mobile content such as screensavers, wallpaper, audio tones, 3G video clips and branded games, individually tailored to promote and accompany each of the EMAP magazine brands, which include Max Power, Classic Car, What Bike, Golf World, Angling Times, Your Horse and Practical Photography.

The content that will be produced will vary widely from title to title, but products such as audio clips, which can be used as ring tones, for example the sound of the new Ferrari accelerating away for car lovers, and video clips such as Tiger Woods sinking a 30-yard putt or a fisherman landing a Great White shark, will help to bring the magazine experience alive for EMAP’s readers.

In a groundbreaking move, Cascata will also be producing a variety of innovative interactive applications to accompany the magazines, such as trail maps for the walking titles, weather forecasts for the golf and fishing titles and, potentially, virtual second-hand auctions to accompany the horse and car magazines’ classified sections. In addition, Cascata will also help to support the titles’ marketing activities by producing branded games and applications to promote major events or shows that the magazine titles are sponsoring or celebrating.

All the content will be available direct from Cascata from the magazines and online and in association with EMAP’s existing advertising & multimedia partners, and will range in price from £1.50 for wallpaper to £6.00 for interactive applications.

Neil Wooding, Managing Director of Cascata, comments:

“We are delighted that the EMAP leisure and hobby titles group has chosen Cascata to produce its mobile phone content. We have been given the opportunity to help EMAP’s titles become some of the most exciting and interactive publications out there in the consumer marketplace, and with all the variety of subject matter available we are confident of producing content that will expose the magazine readers to a wealth of new, interactive content on mobile devices.”

Paul Voss, Licensing Director of EMAP, comments:

“We choose Cascata for the synergy and brand sensitivity that they are able to bring to our individual publications. We are constantly looking forward in order to expand our services and content into new and dynamic areas, and the mobile phone market is the most obvious choice at this moment in time.”
