| Compex Releases New Firmware Support Making Stacking 16 Switches Possible |

Compex, innovative manufacturer in the
networking and connectivity industry, introduces new firmware for the
SGX3226 today, enabling stacking up to 16 switches. Compex has equipped the
SGX3226, 24 + 2 Gigabit SNMP Switch, with a new and improved firmware to
meet our customers' flexibility and expandability needs. The SGX3226 is
now
able to stack up to 16 switches, providing up to 384 Ethernet ports and 32
Gigabit fiber or copper based ports for your network. In addition, 16
switches can be managed using one IP address, making network management
simple and easy.
The SGX3226 comes bundled with FreedomViewTM Pro SNMP and RMON management
software, which offers an efficient way to allow network administrators to
monitor network performance and faults. The RMON function polls the switches
in the network to alert the user of any abnormal operations based on
Ethernet Statistic, History, Alarm, and Event. The switch management
functions can also be accessed via a web based management interface.
For optimal network data connection, the switch comes with Link Aggregation
Protocol for Port Trunking, allowing the traffic load to be shared across
the trunking ports. The SGX3226 also allows easy configuration of the
Tagged and Port-based VLAN via an intuitive graphic user interface. The
SGX3226's features further include Spanning Tree Protocol (IEEE 802.1d),
that increases network uptime through faster recovery from failed links and
MAC address port security, that adds further protection by granting switch
port access only to authorized users. Equipped with IEEE 802.1p
prioritization, the SGX3226 allows real-time traffic prioritization and
classification capabilities based on a variety of parameters. In addition,
the SGX3226 is designed with audible alarms to alert systems administrators
in the event of switch fan failure or switch overheat failure.
The Compex SGX3226 also includes two pre-installed 1000Base-T modules
supporting Gigabit Ethernet over copper twisted pair cable. In addition,
the
unique integrated router delivers combined aggregated bandwidth to the
Internet and fail-over redundancy by allowing up to four ports to be
connected to four external Cable/ADSL modems. The Compex unique aggregating
router function actually allows the user to connect up to 4 different WANs
without an additional router.
The SGX3226 gives the user true flexibility while migrating to Gigabit from a bandwidth-constrained infrastructure with 2 preinstalled Gigabit transceiver slots that can be hot swapped with 1000 Base-SX, 1000 Base-LX, or 100 Base-FX fiber optics modules. The new Compex SGX3226 delivers Layer 2 functions that deliver wire-speed Ethernet packet switching services. The Compex SGX3226 will easily maximize your networks speed by connecting the server to a pre-installed Gigabit port, and connecting all other clients to any of the 24 10/100Mbps ports, for the competitive ESP of $549.95.
