HI Corporation and NVIDIA Enter into Global Alliance Targeting Advanced 3D Gaming on Mobile Phones
HI Corporation, the world leader in 3D software and games for mobile devices and NVIDIA Inc. (Nasdaq: NVDA), the worldwide leader in visual processing solutions, announced today that the companies have agreed to a worldwide alliance for advanced interactive 3D games on mobile communication devices. Providing developers with NVIDIA's sophisticated hardware solutions for mobile 3D acceleration combined with HI's Mascot Capsule(R) Micro3D Platform will enable a new generation in mobile gaming.

The companies will cooperate in the porting and marketing of the Mascot Capsule Engine Micro3D Edition on NVIDIA's newly-announced GoForce architecture. The goal is to enable the content development community with the necessary tools and performance to take leading PC and console titles into the mobile environment.

"This alliance will enable HI and NVIDIA to stake ownership of the turning point in the cellphone revolution," said Phil Carmack, vice president and general manager of NVIDIA's handheld business unit. "The ability to deliver the world's most compelling 3D content on a mobile communications device will dramatically change the way people use their phones."

Through this alliance, HI will bring support for the newly-adopted Mobile 3D Graphics API for J2ME (M3G) to NVIDIA's GoForce, providing developers with a fully standards-compliant development platform for mobile gaming. Every mobile device employing NVIDIA GoForce technology will also be able to utilise the Mascot Capsule Engine Micro3D Edition, making it easy for existing game developers and for the 30M handsets already enabled with Mascot Capsule to take advantage of the power of GoForce.

"We are extremely pleased to have this opportunity to work side by side with NVIDIA," noted Kazuo Kawabata, president of HI Corporation. "Mobile technology is evolving rapidly and users are demanding handsets that have the power to go beyond voice and basic applications like calendars, to deliver dynamic and graphically rich games. Our alliance with NVIDIA further extends the ability of our Mascot Capsule Engine Micro3D Platform to address this user demand on into the future."

This joint technology and marketing alliance will fuel faster penetration of hardware-accelerated 3D throughout the mobile communications industry and set new benchmarks for what is achievable in mobile gaming.

Mascot Capsule(R) Engine Micro3D Edition

Mascot Capsule Micro3D Edition provides a comprehensive software platform for 3D application development for mobile devices. With a range of embedded 3D rendering engines, Mascot Capsule provides software support for 3D for virtually any mobile device. The newest release, Mascot Capsule Engine Micro3D Edition Version 4 adds full support for the OpenGL(R) ES and M3G standards and fully leverages 3D hardware acceleration when available. Licensed globally by Motorola, Sony-Ericsson and other leading handset makers, the Mascot Capsule Micro3D Platform can be found in more than 30M handsets across more than 20 carriers worldwide, including NTT DoCoMo, Vodafone KK, KDDI, SK Telecom, AT&T Wireless, Verizon Wireless, Telefonica, and others.
