| HTC hopes to lower dependence on HP |
||
To avoid putting all its eggs in one basket, High Tech Computer (HTC), the world’s largest PDA maker, said it hopes to lower the proportion of revenues from its biggest client, Hewlett-Packard (HP), from the current 50%.Company president H.T. Cho said that to diversify operating risk, it is necessary to expand its client base and avoid depending heavily on HP’s iPAQ orders. It is estimated that HTC will ship 1.5 million iPAQ Pocket PCs this year, making up 75% of the company’s full-year handheld device shipments. Shipments of the iPAQ and HTC’s revenue performance have a close cause-and-effect relationship. It is estimated that HP shipped 480,000 iPAQs and HTC posted record revenues of NT$5.13 billion in the second quarter. In the third quarter, HP reported shipping 290,000 iPAQs, and HTC saw its revenue drop 12.6% quarter-on-quarter to NT$4.49 billion. Click to read more on DigiTimes |
