| Sesame Street Creators Choose Intellisync to Make Data Mobility as Easy as 1-2-3 |
||
| Intellisync Corporation (NASDAQ:SYNC) , a leading developer and marketer of wireless software solutions for the worldwide mobile communications industry, today announced that Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit educational organization behind the world-famous Sesame Street(R) brand, has selected the Intellisync(R) Mobile Suite(TM) platform to provide mobile data access for employees who travel the globe.
The solution provides company officers and executive staff with wireless email and PIM synchronization across a wide range of mobile devices. Mobile Suite is designed to improve employee productivity by enabling business to be conducted anywhere, with confidence that email, calendar, contact and task data will be automatically delivered to mobile workers. Sesame Workshop is also utilizing the systems management component of Intellisync Mobile Suite to minimize the total cost of ownership of mobile devices by reducing the time required to manage them. "We turned to Intellisync because we wanted to provide our employees with the ability to effectively conduct business on wireless devices wherever their business travels take them," said Floyd Arena, director of network operations, and Deryck Motielall, network engineer, for Sesame Workshop. "Since testing the system worldwide, it has addressed all of our initial challenges of keeping everyone in sync with one another and with our corporate home base." Sesame Workshop has also taken advantage of the "remote kill" feature that is part of the Intellisync Systems Management module of the Mobile Suite. If an employee loses one of Sesame Workshop's palmOne Treos while on the road, the IT staff is able to remotely wipe it clean of proprietary information and then reload the information wirelessly onto a new device. Sesame Workshop is now able to wirelessly sync Palm OS, Microsoft CE and Pocket PC handhelds, including the palmOne Treo 600 and the Audiovox 4100, with Microsoft Outlook XP on the desktop and Microsoft Exchange 5.5 on the back end. All information between the handheld devices and PCs is easily synchronized and updated wirelessly. Some of the organization's executives receive as many as 500 emails per hour, which are easily managed through Mobile Suite's Intellisync Email Accelerator technology to monitor and push email across enterprise workgroups. Intellisync Mobile Suite works seamlessly with clustering and load balancing systems, and can even redirect information traffic to a newly activated device when users are completely disconnected or change devices. "Being selected by such a well-known and respected institution as Sesame Workshop is further evidence that our mobility solutions are gaining increasing popularity with organizations that conduct business in different corners of the globe," said Clyde Foster, Intellisync's chief operating officer. "Intellisync Mobile Suite offers world-tested wireless email and sync performance, extensive device support and powerful device management, all of which enable Sesame Workshop to keeping communication flowing, regardless of their employees' location." Sesame Workshop is a truly global organization that produces educational programs worldwide. As a result, the company's executives are rarely in actual offices as they take Big Bird, Grover and the rest of the Sesame Street gang to such far-flung locales as Bangladesh, Bermuda, China, India and South Africa. A primary organizational goal was to provide high-level business affairs, legal and information systems officers, as well as the CEO and COO, with the ability to work and communicate with the corporate office from any location using a variety of small mobile devices and existing applications. Sesame Workshop worked with Derive Technologies, a leading systems integrator, to provide them with a solution that would support multiple platforms and effectively manage the company's high volume of file transfers. "Sesame Workshop had a unique set of business requirements that required technology from a vendor they could trust," said Mitch Martinez, executive vice president of sales for Derive Technologies. "Intellisync Mobile Suite is becoming a mobile enterprise technology standard that not only promises to improve employee productivity, but is also cost-effective and easy to get up and running. Because it works with multiple devices, applications and back-end platforms, we knew Sesame Workshop would not have to build out a new infrastructure to reach their goal within a fixed budget." |
