INTRODUCTION
The FlyJacket is a full-featured multimedia expansion pack for the iPAQ Pocket PC. The FlyJacket provides not only VGA output but also functions as a video I/O interface (both Composite video and S-Video input / output). The upcoming FlyJacket CAM model will boast the additional advantage of a built-in camera module that can act as a video input source. By connecting either a projector or a VGA monitor to the VGA output, the FlyJacket allows a user to achieve a larger display (up to 800*600; 24bit true colors) for presentation or demonstration purposes directly from an iPAQ. Another benefit is that a user can either preview or record a video (Full motion video up to 30fps) and grab ¡¥snapshots¡¦ through an iPAQ using the FlyJacketThe camera module on the FlyJacket CAM model will provide the iPAQ with the ability to offer DSC (Digital Still Camera) functionality. It will allow the taking of pictures anytime, anywhere as well as saving the images in JPEG file format. Considering the limited fixed-memory of a PDA, the CF (CompactFlash) card expansion slot on the FlyJacket will serve as a useful and convenient solution for reading and writing data to the iPAQ. The iPAQ owner will truly appreciate being able to realize CF efficiency without the need to switch between several packs. The FlyJacket is equipped with a rechargeable Li-on battery that makes it self-sufficient. No need to worry about draining the power from the iPAQ itself while you are presenting or using the FlyJacket. The battery is the same unit used for certain Motorola mobile phone models. The advantage of this battery is that it may be charged directly from the iPAQ charger or through the specified Motorola charger. The bundled remote controller has been specifically designed to perform the task of ¡¥Page Up¡¦ and ¡¥Page Down¡¦ for Microsoft PowerPoint file presentations using the FlyJacket. Furthermore, the opposite end of the remote control is equipped with Laser diode to serve as a pointer during presentations. The pen-sized R/C-laser pointer can be easily taken everywhere. FUNCTION A. Models definition All of the three models are based on the FlyJacket core design, yet each one offers different extended functionality. The software running on iPAQ will auto-detect the function of each option. Functionality *Plug & Play After the installation of a driver and a utility, the FlyJacket becomes a Plug & Play device for iPAQ. The software will auto-detect the connection of the FlyJacket to the iPAQ as well as auto-recognize the different models of the FlyJacket. *VGA Output By connecting the VGA output to a Projector or a VGA monitor via an extended 15-pin VGA cable, the user will achieve a larger display when using the iPAQ for presentation purposes. The VGA output supports 640x480 and 800x600 in 24-bit true color. It can be connected to a head-mount display while either playing a game or a video clips on the iPAQ. *Video Input Various video sources including VCRs, VCD/DVD players, and DSCs may be used as a video input source for the FlyJacket. It supports full motion (frame rate up to 30fps, 320x240) video previewing, S-Video and CVBS on an iPAQ. *Video Output The FlyJacket converts and outputs VGA screen to either a CVBS video signal or a S-Video signal in 640x480 60Hz mode. *Video Capture The FlyJacket allows the recording of video directly on an iPAQ. * Still Image Capture The FlyJacket performs single frame capturing of images from either an attached camera or video input. * Included CF slot The CF expansion slot allows captured video clips and still images to be written (copied) to a CF memory card for storage as well as data reading (e.g.: PowerPoint file) directly from the CF memory card. The FlyJacket CF slot supports both type I and type II cards. *IR remote The remote control unit features Up / Down buttons which give the user slide advance/return functionality during the presentation of a PowerPoint file. The remote control is essential when the cable connection length from the iPAQ to the projector is restricted. The remote control is additionally equipped with a laser diode that serves as a pointer during presentations. *Camera module The camera offers 350K pixel resolution through its CMOS type sensor that supports ALC and AWB. The focus of the lens is manual driven. The camera module can be detached from the FlyJacket when not in use. Info provided by http://www.lifeview.com | ||
