| This release of Quickoffice features an entirely revamped version of the Quickword word processor, including full text formatting capabilities and a first-of-its-kind feature that enables advanced users to edit documents using standard HTML tags. Users can select from a number of fonts and specify sizes and bold, italics, and underlined typefaces.
Additionally, users of color-screen devices can specify text color as well as background colors. Quickword also supports bookmark synchronization with Word, enabling users to create hyperlinked bookmarks within either Word or Quickword that will retain their links during synchronization. Advanced users will be able to use this capability to create a hyperlinked table of contents within Quickword documents. These new features allow users of Palm Powered handhelds to produce office-quality documents and make edits to Internet or intranet Web pages while on-the-go.Continuing in its tradition of seamless integration with its MS Office counterparts on the desktop, Quickoffice now offers full support for Office XP documents and spreadsheets. Further, Cutting Edge Software has improved Quickword’s integration with MS Word 97 or newer, including formatting preservation with Word documents synchronized with Quickword. Quickword will also preserve tables, embedded objects, images, charts, bulleted and numbered lists, line formatting and tabs. ![]() Quicksheet has also been significantly enhanced, adding more than 20 new spreadsheet functions and optimizing the speed in which Quicksheet recalculates cells. Cutting Edge Software has also worked to further improve the appearance of spreadsheets by enabling users to add cell and text colors which can be set on the device and synchronized bi-directionally with the Excel file on the desktop PC. Further Quicksheet enhancements include support for the high-resolution view of the Sony CLIE models. CLIE users will now view up to ten columns and 17 rows per screen. The Quickoffice suite continues to come equipped with its Quickchart graphing and charting module, enabling users to plot spreadsheet data on a variety of chart types. Users are also able to wirelessly print Quickoffice spreadsheets and rich text documents using Bachmann Software’s PrintBoy utility. The combination of Quickoffice and PrintBoy enables users to produce hard copies of fully formatted documents and spreadsheets directly from their handhelds by beaming them to any printer equipped with an infrared port or adapter. To further enable users to share and exchange Quickoffice documents, Cutting Edge Software has built in support for Palm, Inc.’s MultiMail ProÒ application, giving users an easy means of sending Quickoffice files as email attachments. “We considered many factors when developing the latest version of Quickoffice, including memory requirements, performance, usability and features,” said Paul Moreton, Cutting Edge Software’s vice president of marketing and sales. “From writing business proposals in a taxi to tracking sales figures in a client’s waiting room to editing a company’s intranet-based policy and procedure manual during a flight, Quickoffice is a powerful productivity toolkit for mobile professionals who need to get their work done no matter where they are.”Quickoffice is available for purchase at Quickoffice.com or any leading online retailer of Palm OS applications, including PalmGear.com and Handango.com, in addition to leading office supply and electronics retailers nationwide. It retails for US$39.95. --TalonPR |
