Universal Steel Case Wrapped in Leather from SmarterCase

image

This case offers the durability of a hard shell exterior with a secure snap closure in a variety of styles and fabric coverings. The style I chose for this review is the black leather.

I liked the smooth feel of it right away. It's the perfect size for a student to slip into a backpack and find easily. The inside is a different story, however. I predict that the flimsy sueded plastic tray that lines the inside would crack with frequent use.

It has a slot for a memo pad, but I don't see the point of that feature when many folks who use a PDA are trying to be as paperless as possible. Also, having to affix your PDA with velcro pads is a nuisance in my opinion, and one of the elastic bands to hold an extra stylus was missing from the one I received to review.

In summation, I would say that this product has great initial curbappeal, but upon closer inspection is best suited for those who are concerned most about looks and not substance...

Editors Note: I found the case to provide hard steel case protection with a soft look and feel. Only time will tell if the interior will hold up the heavy use as Amy pointed out. I was able to squeeze in a PC Card where the little notepad was placed as the note pad is on the smallish side and of not much use. There is a small loop along the side by the note pad to accommodate a stylus or even a pen, I managed to slip in a full stylus pen combo. Overall with most aluminum and titanium cases prices over $50, you can get steel case protection for $20 from SmarterCase.com
