Cingular 3125 Flip-Phone: Why Can't Palm do That?
Posted by Bill Landon in Mobile_Phones | Palm | Windows_Mobile | Windows_Mobile_News | Palm_News | Mobile_Phone_News | (0) Comments |

imageTim Nicholson of Palmzone.net wrote this editorial recently; while it talks about a Windows Mobile device, the point of the article really is why can’t Palm make a Motorola RAZR that runs the Palm
OS??

Blurb:

Ever since the initial release of the Motorola RAZR, I’ve been jealous of the slim design, large screen, and the overall style of it. Of course, I never purchased one because I’m a Palm OS fan! However, pretty much everyone else on the planet has since gotten one of these pieces of artwork that functions as a phone. Sure, I’m a big fan of the Treo as are millions of other folks, but the Treo fans are in love with the phone’s capabilities, while the RAZR fans are in love with its design. See the Motorola RAZR in our Amazon.com Store. The big downside to the RAZR, in my opinion, is that Motorola refuses to produce a full suite of usable Personal Information Management (PIM) applications.

Now comes the Cingular 3125, otherwise known as the Qtek 8500 and other brands throughout the world. Its a Windows Mobile smartphone that’s a flip-phone style. Its thin and black, like the RAZR. Without a dedicated keyboard, its certainly not as easy to respond to emails, but its a fully-functional smartphone. It has a 1.2 MPx camera, email, internet, and just about everything else you’d need in a smartphone.

Nokia 3250 XpressMusic, 5200, and 5300 @ Digital Trends
Posted by Bill Landon in Consumer_Electronics | Mobile_Phones | Consumer_Electronic_News | Mobile_Phone_News | (0) Comments |

imageDigital Trends has been busy this week, they do a hands on of the new Nokia 3250 XpressMusic, 5200, and 5300 .

Nokia recently announced 3 new phones that have a huge focus on music. They include the Nokia 3250 XpressMusic, 5200, and 5300 XpressMusic. You may be wondering what Nokia’s clever little title “XpressMusic” means. XpressMusic is Nokia’s way of letting you easily access your music collection on a Nokia phone. For example, the 5300 XpressMusic has dedicated music buttons that are easily accessible no matter what position the phone is in. These buttons include play/pause, track-skipping controls, and volume controls all on the sides of the device. The 5200 has a similar design, but comes with only a play/pause button and lacks certain features the 5300 XpressMusic possesses.

Samsung Trace SGH-t519 Review @ Digital Trends
Posted by Bill Landon in Mobile_Phones | Mobile_Phone_News | (0) Comments |

imageOur peeps over at Digital Trends has the giddy’up on the Samsung Trace. They liked the stylish design of the Trace and its excellent GUI. The 1.3MP camera proved well suited to the phone and whole this is quite lightweight. Unfortunatlly it’s only a mediocre MP3 player, the small joystick was troublesome; it felt rather delicate and lacks a flash for the camera.

Quote:

Motorola’s RAZR started the slim cell phone fad and now other manufactures are grabbing hold of this trend. Instead of packing in features, companies are competing against one another to see who can crank out the smallest cell phone possible. Samsung tried before with the T509 (a small, candy bar-style phone that was no-frills and had many flaws). This time, however, Samsung is back in the game with the T519, a.k.a. Trace. The Trace features a great 1.3MP camera, a sleek design, and great battery life. Want to find out how the other features stack up and whether it’s worth the buy, though? Read on to find out.

SENYO 600 Mini-PC Review @ Epiacenter.com
Posted by Bill Landon in Personal_Computer | Personal_Computer_News | (0) Comments |

imageEpiacenter.com takes a long look at the niffty SENYO 600 Mini-PC. They really liked the outstanding CPU/memory performance if this little critter as well as its beautiful design. The SENYO 600 has a plethora of I/O ports for such a small form factor. It was easy to set up and has (Suse 10.1) Linux support. They did note that the onboard graphics were weak...nothing new with that and that it had limited BIOS options. Also dogging the unit was that driver installation can be a hassle.

Quote: "I first heard about transtec back in August when they announced the introduction of their SENYO 600 system. I was immediately interested in this system due to its top-notch specifications and the design of the case.

It’s important to note that the SENYO 600 is based on FIC’s GE2 OEM design so some of the drivers and motherboard components contain references to FIC.
