iMATE JAM/O2 XDA Mini/Qtek S100 Series 64MB to 128MB Upgrade Available

PocketPCTechs are pleased to announce that they have developed and released a 64MB to 128MB upgrade for the iMATE JAM/O2 XDA Mini/Qtek S100 Series Pocket PC.

This unit uses low voltage hi-speed BGA memory, so stacking is not available and 128MB will be the maximum capacity. During the upgrade process they remove the existing 64MB and install 128MB. This memory upgrade does NOT require their proprietary driver and is fully recognized by the OS (121.39MB Available). The SRP of the upgrade is $199 including 2nd day return shipping (USA only).

As always, this upgrade is not supported by the manufacturer and will void the warranty On the unit.  They do offer a 90 day warranty on the upgrade and motherboard Of the unit.

OCW Review : Nokia 6260 Symbian GSM Triband Camera Phone

Today, we bring you our last review for the year 2004. It is the Symbian based Nokia 6260 phone.

This is the first time Nokia release a clamshall-twistable phone. The LCD can be twisted and rotated 180 degrees to work in the “Browser Mode. Other features include built-in Quickpoint, Quickword software. It also has FM Tuner and playbacks MP3. On top of Infrared, Bluetooth, GPRS, MMC external storage can also be used to install applications or images, mp3, ringtones (midi) etc.

Information Appliance Associates Showcases BlackBerry-to-Macintosh Connectivity Solution at MacWorld

Information Appliance Associates (IAA), inventors of the PocketMac®-line of products, today announced that it will be showcasing PocketMac for BlackBerry® from Research In Motion (RIM) (Nasdaq: RIMM; TSX: RIM) at the MacWorld Conference and Expo 2005 in San Francisco, CA. 

“We are very pleased that Apple’s mobile customers will be able to enjoy BlackBerry and synch with their Mac using the PocketMac application,” said Mark Guibert, Vice President, Corporate Marketing at Research In Motion.

“We’re incredibly excited,” said Terence Goggin, CTO of Information Appliance Associates. “To be working with RIM and have a product that embraces the Mac market...we couldn’t be more pleased. The SP-103 MP3 Docking Station is the perfect accessory companion to any MP3 Player
device. The SP-103 allows most MP3 Players to automatically record the latest Top-40
music hits directly from the FM radio without any talk or commercials. The songs recorded
are encoded into individual MP3 music tracks.


“With the SP-103 product, users of portable MP3 Players now no longer need to depend
on the PC or Internet for their main source of music,” said Tajima Toshimasa, Managing
Director, Sumitronics Asia Pte Ltd. He added, “Time consuming connections to the
Internet, searching and downloading music files are also no longer necessary.”
The process is fully automated, with just one touch of the button. Through the popular
USB interface, the SP-103 allows easy transfer of MP3 music files to most MP3 Player

“Users just need to plug in their MP3 Player, press the recording button and go to bed.

Engineer, Sumitronics Asia Pte Ltd. The SP-103 is targeted at people who are interested
in always getting the latest Top-40 music hits. An alarm clock function is also built into the
SP-103 for use as a bedside clock radio.


Encased in a black wooden cabinet with a metal faceplate, stylish and elegant looking, it is
suitable for urban young executives. The SP-103 will be retailing in Singapore from 15th
January 2005 at S$499 (approximately US$299). For the USA and European markets,
the SP-103 is planned to be available in shops by end Q1 2005.

Nokia Selected as the First 3G Handset Partner for Hong Kong CSL

Nokia today announced that CSL has selected Nokia as their first 3G handset partner and have chosen the Nokia 6630 smartphone for their 3G WCDMA product portfolio. The Nokia 6630 phone offers online e-mail, capability to download and view e-mail attachments, mobile broadband access to multimedia content, live video streaming and video conferencing.

“We congratulate CSL for their commercial 3G network launch and we are delighted to work as their first 3G handset partner. Tiger Telematics' Gizmondo on Show With Microsoft and Nvidia

image Following up on our Gizmondo coverage back in May and Aug Looks like we will be seeing a live unit at CES in Jan!

Gizmondo Europe Ltd, subsidiary of Jacksonville, Florida-based Tiger Telematics Inc. (OTC: TGTL, OTC: TGTL.PK), today confirmed the company will be exhibiting the multi-entertainment device at the forthcoming Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Nevada, as well as being featured on the Microsoft and Nvidia stands. The event running from Jan. 6-9, 2005, will introduce the feature-packed Gizmondo to the US market, ahead of the soon-to-be-announced, late-Q1 2005 launch date.

The annual show attracts over 140,000 technology hungry visitors each year, all eager to sample new products, pick up the latest gadgetry, and listen to keynote speakers divulge their thoughts regarding the year ahead.

Qiao Xing Universal: CECT Stands out Among Domestic and Foreign Mobile Phone Players in 2004

Qiao Xing Universal Telephone (NASDAQ:XING) announced today that in 2004, the sales volume of mobile phones under the brand name CECT is experiencing continuous growth. This has been highlighted by the league table for market share: a ranking of mobile phone handset brands (both domestic and foreign brand name) in the China market. According to a survey by Sino-Market Research Limited, in October 2004, CECT’s ranking moved up eleven places, compared with March 2004. Better still, in November 2004, it moved up one place from the previous month.
