Snakes on a Plane and in your Palm
Posted by Bill Landon in Events | Events Sponsored | Mobile_Phones | Mobile_Phone_News | Palm | Palm_News | Windows_Mobile | Windows_Mobile_News | (0) Comments |

imageFollowing our movie theme today we would like to pass along a fun little contest being sponsored by Palm. With Samuel L Jackson’s new flick Snakes on a Plane flying a comfortable holding pattern in theaters this week PDAToday has been authorized to run a contest to give away two tickets to SOAP.

The Sprint Palm Treo plays a small but pivotal appearance in the film.

To enter all you need to do is send us a picture your Palm Treo featuring a picture of a snake and/or plane on the screen. We will post the winner and possibly a couple of runners up. Send your entries to .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) Don’t have a Sprint Palm Treo? (insert clever Sprint sales pitch here) Actually that’s not a problem, we will also accept pictures from non Palm devices all you hve to do is click here then send us your non Palm pics. Sorry our sponsors made us do that wink

Unlike our Tom Cruise/Robert Smith spoof earlier, this is a real contest and tickets will be mailed directly from Palms’ PR firm to the winner.

Good luck and dont get bit!

PDAToday Sponsored Porsche Carrera coming soon
Posted by Bill Landon in Events | Events Sponsored | Sponsored_Porsche_Carrera | (0) Comments |

imageWith 2006 rapidly approaching we have been quietly prepping a Porsche 911 Carrera Targa for sponsorship. We will be starting slow with a few autocross and track days to get our feet wet for the 2006 season. Also we will use the Porsche for our new install proving ground for mobile products like GPS, Satellite Radio, Windows Media devices, etc.

So far upgrades have included a Fabspeed exhaust system, Bilstein sport shocks, Rennline triangulated strut brace and custom Steve Wong performance chip. So far we have reduced the vehicle weight to about 2800lbs.

Here is a video clip of the Dyno run we did at CarbConn a couple of weeks back. We ended up with 200 RWHP (rear wheel horse power). That works out to about 240 HP assuming about 15% drive train losses.

We are still looking for a couple additional sponsors for logo placement on the car, send us a note if you want to see your logo in our reviews photos and track videos.

Special thanks to Craig @ Rennstore for taking the video of our dyno run.
