iMATE JAM 128MB Upgrade Reviewed @ HowardForums
imageHere's a review of PocketPCTechs iMATE 64MB to 128MB Internal RAM upgrade done by Mark Morrow and posted on HowardForums. It is very well done and thorough. They also took some photos of the process which can help in explaining why the upgrade costs what it does and why it is not user installable.

You'll notice the old chips laying upside down, next to the PCBA. These are Ball Grid Array (BGA) chips which instead of having metal leads coming out the side of the chip that you solder onto the motherboard, there are little solder balls that are underneath the chip. We use specialized equipment to align and then reflow the chips onto the motherboard. Definitely not something for the end-user to do.
