Samsung, Fastmobile and Komobile Announce Joint Commercial Agreement for Embedded Multimedia IM and Push-To-Talk Applications
Samsung Electronics Co, fastmobile, the first company to commercially offer a worldwide push-to-talk (PTT) and presence-based mobile Instant Communication service, and Komobile Inc., a growing South Korea-based Value Added Services provider and a partner company of fastmobile, announced today their three-way joint commercial agreement. This agreement is to develop and distribute multimedia Instant Messaging and Push-To-Talk services based on fastmobile's fastchat platform, operating as an embedded application on Samsung Pocket PC (PPC) handsets. The fastchat platform enables multimedia functionality such as text, picture, and video messaging along with gaming, ptt and business applications all available off of the fastchat platform. The first phase of bringing PTT and presence based Instant Communication Services is now commercially launched on Korea's CDMA network via Samsung's anycall website. Future releases will include embedded reference designs for use on both CDMA and GSM handsets.

The agreement brings fastmobile's innovative fastchat(TM) Instant Communications service to one of the world's most advanced mobile telecommunications markets, South Korea. The service, currently planned to be marketed under the fastchat(TM) brand, will offer South Korean mobile phone users a one-of-a-kind integrated combination of walkie talkie functionalities and advanced multimedia messaging features.

Kang Lee, CEO and co-founder of fastmobile announced, "This is one step on the path to truly bringing integrated and unified multimedia applications to businesses and consumers not only in Korea but to the global market of both CDMA and GSM subscribers. Our operator partners around the world will soon be able to continue adding value-added services into additional handsets, further meeting business and consumer market demand for beneficial, productive and fun applications."

With this announcement, fastmobile adds South Korea to a growing list of countries that include China, Italy, and India where fastchat is marketed commercially by mobile operators and telecoms service providers.
