| CentraView Launches Feature-Complete Java Open Source CRM/SFA Project; Project Delivers High Business Value and Leverages New Open Source Model |
||
| CentraView, LLC, a leading provider of browser-based Contact Management, Sales Force Automation (SFA) and Customer Relationship management (CRM) software, today announced the release of the CentraView Enterprise Java (J2EE) open source Contact Management, SFA and CRM software project.
"CentraView is very excited about the opportunity to bring such a robust project to the community," said Alan Rihm, CEO of CentraView. "We believe going open source will provide significant value to customers, developers and the community as a whole. This model allows us to accelerate wide scale adoption of our technology by end-users, encourage additional technology alliances and actively engage the Java development community. Opening our source code to the community helps us to accelerate our development cycles and, ultimately, helps improve the CentraView software for end users and channel partners." The CentraView Open Source project will utilize the CentraView Public License 1.0.0, a derivative of the Mozilla 1.1 license. This license enables end-users and developers to download the CentraView source code and use the software for free. Developers may enhance and build derivative solutions. Offering CentraView software as a hosted service, however, requires a Distribution Agreement with CentraView. A commercial version of the CentraView software is currently available including additional third party features and capabilities. For example, the commercially supported version includes synchronization with desktop PIMs like Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Express, Palm, and Pocket PC (through Outlook). All versions of CentraView will be based on the CentraView open source project. This approach ensures that all versions of the software will directly benefit from community support of the open source project. CentraView On-Demand Software CentraView's software provides growing businesses with the ultimate "centralized view" of all customer and business information. Through an intuitive browser-based interface, CentraView delivers unparalleled "out of the box" functionality, ease of use and limitless scalability. Built on the Enterprise Java (J2EE) platform and optimized for Linux and Windows environments, it leverages open source technologies such as Linux (RedHat Enterprise and Fedora), Apache Tomcat, JBoss and MySQL. The software includes integrated and powerful contact management, webmail and group scheduling, as well as document management, sales force automation, project management, customer service, accounting views and HR modules. The commercial version of CentraView also offers seamless synchronization with desktop PIMs. CentraView also plans to release a conduit to synchronize data with accounting packages including QuickBooks and Microsoft Great Plains. "The CentraView Service Provider channel program continues to be our primary focus for distribution of CentraView On-Demand," said Rihm. "Going open source demonstrates an even deeper commitment to our partners by helping to drive wider scale adoption and community support for CentraView technologies."
