SlipStream Data To Accelerate Internet And Email Access For Symbian OS Phones
SlipStream Data Inc. announced today that it has joined the Symbian Platinum Program to support the growing market for smartphones based on Symbian OS(TM). As a Symbian Platinum Partner, SlipStream will bring its data compression and acceleration technology to the Symbian ecosystem, ensuring seamless integration with Symbian OS.

Symbian develops and licenses Symbian OS, the global industry-standard operating system for smartphones, to the world's leading handset manufacturers. Symbian OS licensees account for over 85% of worldwide mobile phone sales.(1) In the first half of 2004, more than 5 million phones based on Symbian OS were shipped worldwide, bringing the installed base to 15 million phones.

"As the number of smartphones based on Symbian OS increases, SlipStream sees an incredible opportunity for improving the cellular network access performance of current models and those in the pipeline," said Ron Neumann, president of Slipstream Data Inc. "The open standards of Symbian OS allow our acceleration technology to be tightly integrated with any smartphone today or in the future - from many different manufacturers and geographies."

SlipStream's patented technology offers mobile users enhanced wireless performance capabilities for surfing the Internet, as well as sending and receiving emails at an accelerated rate. Through integrating SlipStream's industry-leading acceleration solution with smartphones based on Symbian OS, this partnership will deliver simple and powerful management capabilities for enterprises looking to increase the usage of secure web-based applications and deliver critical data to mobile employees.

"Smartphone users require fast, secure and reliable access to information, and SlipStream's acceleration technology is an ideal management solution for enterprises deploying smartphones throughout their businesses," said Jerry Panagrossi, vice president of US Operations, Symbian. "We are pleased to have SlipStream Data join the Symbian Platinum Program and bring its market-leading data compression and acceleration technology to the Symbian OS ecosystem."

SlipStream SP is the defacto standard in the accelerated dial-up market, with over 900 service provider partners worldwide. The company's sophisticated web and email acceleration technologies compress, optimize and streamline data, providing a dramatic improvement in access speeds over any network. This technology has given ISPs a fast and flexible way of rolling out services that reduce subscriber churn by offering users a more fulfilling online experience. The SlipStream SE (Secure Enterprise) product is also deployed by corporations to increase network bandwidth capacity while decreasing costs and improving the productivity of mobile and branch office workers.
