Exideas Released V. 3.0 of MessagEase Onscreen Keyboard and Announced Support for Asian Languages
Exideas, a California software company specializing in Computer-Human Interface (www.Exideas.com), today released version 3.0 of its Windows Onscreen Keyboard, a tool to enhance text entry on Tablet PCs and touchscreen-based computers, as well as a variety of other mobile devices. Exideas also announced that the next version of MessagEase Onscreen Keyboard for Windows will include plug-in modules for other alphabets and character sets; it will also include support for several Asian languages.

MessagEase is designed to optimize text entry when a single finger or a single stylus is used. MessagEase Onscreen Keyboard is applicable to a wide variety of devices from Tablet PCs to external keyboards for military and industrial controls, enablers for people with disabilities, wearable computers, as well as full keyboard controls for small portable devices. Currently MessagEase for Windows is available for a two-month free evaluation at:

"With its multi-language and multi-alphabet support MessagEase will become an all-in-one text entry tool for Tablet PCs, Windows-based computers, and many emerging mobile products," said Saied Nesbat, Ph.D., President and CEO of Exideas. "Our goal is to create a ubiquitous keyboard for mobile devices or for when two hands or ten fingers cannot be used."

Version 3.0 of MessagEase Onscreen Keyboard sports many new features and user controls. It includes MacroWriter(TM) which enables the users to save and recall many pieces of frequently-used text by specifying just a short abbreviation. This enables the users to quickly expand one or more characters into a pre-defined sentence or paragraph.

Based on many years of research in UI, MessagEase uses letter frequency principles and optimizes the users' hand movement to maximize text entry speed. Frequent letters are entered with a tap and the rest are entered with a drag or slide. MessagEase's keyboard has fewer but larger keys, making them faster to target but keeping the overall keyboard small. MessagEase is currently available for Palm PDAs and Pocket PCs as well as for Tablet PCs.
