| ACCESS' NetFront v3.1 Now Supports Intel's Next-Generation PXA27x Processor Family |
||
| ACCESS (Tokyo Stock Exchange: 4813), a global provider of mobile content delivery and Internet access technologies, today announced that the latest version of its leading embedded browser, NetFront v3.1 for mobile devices, supports Intel(R)'s next-generation PXA27x processor family, based on Intel XScale(R) technology.
The Intel PXA27x processor family, formerly code-named Bulverde, is designed for mobile devices including high-spec mobile phones and PDAs that require multimedia, low power consumption or security. PXA27x supports features that enable high processing power for 3D games and advanced video with improved battery power with Intel wireless MMX(R) technology, reducing power consumption with Intel(R) SpeedStep(R) technology and supporting 4 mega-pixel digital cameras with Intel(R) Quick Capture technology. NetFront v3.1 provides a multimedia extension module, NetFront SMIL Player, that supports multimedia content with integrated text, images, movies and animation. NetFront v3.1 also supports NetFront SVG viewer, which supports SVG content that can be optimized to various screen sizes and enlarged and shrunk in the same display. NetFront v3.1 also supports Real Networks' Helix DNA Client by and Adobe's Adobe Reader for NetFront. These key features differentiate NetFront from other solutions on the market and make NetFront v3.1 well suited to support the next-generation capabilities supported by the Intel PXA27x mobile processor. Additionally, MontaVista Japan, which recently teamed with ACCESS to provide a complete Linux-based development platform and embedded browser solution, supports the Intel PXA27x processor family. The combined capabilities of MontaVista and NetFront bring a unique Linux-based offering to Intel PXA27x processors. Through joint support of the Intel PXA27x processor, ACCESS and MontaVista increase product development efficiencies for Linux-based devices that run on Intel PXA27x processors, reducing time-to-market and keeping development costs down. "We're pleased to work with Intel and MontaVista to provide a comprehensive next-generation mobile solution together," said Toru Arakawa, president and CEO of ACCESS. "As the mobile device market matures, demand for rich browser functions and features is increasing. The combination of our flagship NetFront browser with MontaVista's Linux Consumer Electronics Edition and the Intel PXA27x processor family provides a next-generation platform that can meet customers' changing needs." "Our efforts together with ACCESS to support the Intel PXA27x Processor family have already yielded impressive results," said Hitoshi Arima, President of MontaVista Software Japan KK. "MontaVista believes that with ACCESS NetFront 3.1 and MontaVista Linux Consumer Electronics Edition, our two companies offer the best solution for next-generation mobile devices based on Intel Bulverde."
