Unveiling for Valentine's Day, Lovehound ( www.lovehound.net ) is the first mobile dating service that helps people find love just around the corner. Using an Internet-enabled phone or device, people can log in to become a member and then find that perfect life partner or buddy. Lovehound, targeting the gay community, is first available in the San Francisco Bay Area, and will roll out through the rest of the country during the year; lesbian and heterosexual versions using the same backend technology will launch by mid-2004.
Lovehound is a mobile application that allows users to develop targeted matches through precise searching. Using focused data -- members must complete all information, not just name and age -- Lovehound is able to precisely match members to find an exact match. When that match is found, Lovehound enables the member to send messages and "flirts" through both email and SMS. Lovehound's matching technology pairs people by geographic location and match criteria, giving members a chance to find a date at a specific location. Lovehound members can update their location on their Internet-enabled phones; the service has pre-defined locations in the Bay Area to make searching and matching easier. For example, when a member is Downtown and is looking for someone to go to the movies and dinner with, he can search specifically for matches who are in that area. |
